The Celtic Cross was a proposed or discussed emoji-style symbol concept rather than an officially approved emoji character. It would have represented the distinctive cross with a circular ring around the intersection, a form associated with Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and broader Celtic Christian art. People may have wanted it as a way to express Celtic heritage, faith, remembrance, ancestry, St. Patrickโs Day themes, grave markers, medieval art, or regional pride in text messages and social media posts. Although cross symbols exist in Unicode and some religious emojis are available, the specific Celtic Cross form never became a standard emoji with an official Apple, Google, or Unicode emoji design.

Emoji History The emoji code/ image log of changes.
This emoji was one of the "suggested emojis" the Unicode group unveiled in June 2014 [article], however, it has been, and still is, up to the companies who support emoji in their operating systems to provide not only images but also an algorithm to replace the emoji code into the emoji image.
