Because there was no official Apple emoji design for this exact candidate, any color version would be conceptual rather than historical; an Apple-like mockup might have used smooth shading, rounded fingers, and the familiar emoji hand proportions, while a Unicode-symbol version would look more like a black-and-white dingbat. It remains best understood as a lost or non-standard emoji idea adjacent to approved pointing-hand emoji and older typographic pointing symbols.

This emoji was one of the "suggested emojis" the Unicode group unveiled in June 2014 [article], however, it has been, and still is, up to the companies who support emoji in their operating systems to provide not only images but also an algorithm to replace the emoji code into the emoji image.
