Pocket Calculator refers to a calculator-shaped symbol concept that appeared in Unicode and emoji-candidate discussions around the era when many office, computer, and everyday-object pictographs were being evaluated for emoji use. While the idea fits naturally beside objects such as a desktop computer, printer, keyboard, or abacus, it never became a widely supported, officially recommended color emoji on major emoji keyboards. It is best understood as a Unicode-style symbol or proposed emoji concept rather than an Apple-approved emoji with standard iOS artwork. People may have wanted it to represent math, budgeting, accounting, schoolwork, taxes, engineering, statistics, or the act of “doing the numbers.”

This emoji was one of the "suggested emojis" the Unicode group unveiled in June 2014 [article], however, it has been, and still is, up to the companies who support emoji in their operating systems to provide not only images but also an algorithm to replace the emoji code into the emoji image.
