Upwards Rocket refers to a proposed or discussed emoji-style concept for a rocket shown launching straight upward, distinct from the officially encoded Rocket emoji. While the general rocket became an approved emoji, an explicitly vertical βupwards rocketβ did not become a separate standard emoji character. The idea fits the 2014-era emoji proposal environment, when many symbols were being evaluated for whether they represented common communication needs, pictographic clarity, or compatibility with existing symbol sets.

This emoji was one of the "suggested emojis" the Unicode group unveiled in June 2014 [article], however, it has been, and still is, up to the companies who support emoji in their operating systems to provide not only images but also an algorithm to replace the emoji code into the emoji image.
