Information

In emoji implementations, tag letters are appended to the Black Flag (U+1F3F4) and closed with CANCEL TAG (U+E007F) to create special tag-based flag sequences, notably the standardized subdivision flags for England, Scotland, and Wales. The letter “u” is not part of those standardized sequences, so it mainly appears in nonstandard or private tag strings that typically do not yield a special emoji rendering.

Tag Latin Small Letter U is the Unicode tag character U+E0075 from the Tags block, representing the lowercase “u” specifically for use inside emoji tag sequences.

As with other tag letters, it is an invisible, non-spacing formatting character; it does not function as a standalone emoji and does not display a visible symbol on its own.
