Prior to the widespread use of plastic, many people stored honey in a honey pot. The stripped design and shape of a honey pot was easily recognizable. Honey is made by bees, specifically honey bees. Most people think of A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh when they see a honey pot. Pooh Bear stored all his honey in honey pots. Pooh Bear is to honey as Cookie Monster is to cookies. Both of which are childhood favorites.
