= paper in Rock, Paper, Scissors game → 1F44B 👋 waving hand sign
Information
On Apple/iOS, it’s a straight-on yellow palm with all five fingers together and the thumb angled out, finished with soft 3D shading and crisp crease lines, plus a rounded wrist edge. The pose reads like a calm stop or a ready high five. It supports skin tone modifiers, though the classic look is that bright Apple yellow. Pro tip: this is ✋ raised hand—distinct from 🤚 the back of hand and 🖐 the splayed-fingers hand—each with its own meme energy.
It brings major high-five vibes—double it for a virtual high ten—and it easily stands in for the number five in scores, countdowns, or “gimme five” moments.
As a gesture, it’s the universal “hey there” meets “pause, bestie,” ideal for classroom moments, Zoom etiquette, and polite interruptions. People use it to volunteer, to signal “I’ve got a point,” or to self-own a guilty moment—who ate the last slice? ✋ me. In texts and comments, it ranges from playful to sarcastic: wave hello, set a boundary, or toss a low-key “talk to the hand” without typing a whole paragraph.
