Because Apple and Unicode did not publish a standard emoji design for this candidate, any Apple-style appearance should be understood as conceptual rather than official. In mockup or proposal-style imagery, it would likely have appeared as a gray or silver rectangular hard drive with a dark label area, visible circular platter, small screws, and possibly a connector edge or green circuit-board accent. A more modern interpretation might resemble a black external USB drive with a small status light, while a retro version could show an exposed mechanical disk and read-write arm. Its visual tone would probably be neutral and technical rather than expressive, with no face or pose.

Emoji History The emoji code/ image log of changes.
This emoji was one of the "suggested emojis" the Unicode group unveiled in June 2014 [article], however, it has been, and still is, up to the companies who support emoji in their operating systems to provide not only images but also an algorithm to replace the emoji code into the emoji image.
