“Lips” refers to a proposed or discussed emoji concept for a standalone pair of lips, distinct from a full face, and related to the broader set of expressive body-part and romance symbols considered in early emoji standardization discussions. While lip imagery already exists in official emoji form through symbols such as 💋 Kiss Mark and 👄 Mouth, a separate emoji specifically named “Lips” does not appear to have become an officially approved Unicode emoji under that name. The idea would have been useful for communicating kissing, flirting, speaking, beauty, lipstick, silence, sensuality, or dramatic reaction without needing a full facial expression.

In internet and mobile messaging culture, a lips emoji could have carried meanings ranging from “kiss,” “mwah,” and “love you” to makeup, glamour, gossip, seduction, or the phrase “my lips are sealed.” People may have wanted it because lips are visually iconic, easy to recognize at small sizes, and common in pop culture, advertising, fashion, memes, and celebrity imagery. It also overlaps with slang and reaction use, such as emphasizing a bold statement, teasing someone, or representing a lip-sync, singing, or beauty tutorial context.

If shown in proposal imagery or concept mockups, “Lips” would likely have appeared as a glossy red or pink pair of lips, possibly puckered as if blowing a kiss or slightly parted like the existing mouth-style emoji. On Apple/iOS, no separate official “Lips” emoji design is known, but a conceptual version might have resembled Apple’s polished emoji style: saturated red lipstick, soft highlights, rounded curves, and a simple front-facing pose. Its lack of separate approval may be partly because existing emojis already covered much of the same semantic space, especially Kiss Mark for romantic lipstick imagery and Mouth for a general depiction of lips and speech.
