Tag Latin Small Letter K is a special-purpose Unicode tag character (U+E006B) from the Plane 14 Tags block. It is not a standalone emoji and is generally invisible; it functions as a formatting component used inside emoji tag sequences. In normal text it should not display as a visible letter, though some platforms may show a missing-glyph box if the character appears out of context. Its primary role is to participate in sequences that annotate or modify an emoji, rather than to appear by itself.
In the emoji system, tag letters can be placed after the Waving Black Flag (U+1F3F4) and terminated with Cancel Tag (U+E007F) to form emoji tag sequences. These sequences are used for certain subdivision flag implementations, such as England (gbeng), Scotland (gbsct), and Wales (gbwls). The letter k is not part of those standardized sequences, so it does not currently contribute to any recognized flag emoji on major platforms. If Tag Latin Small Letter K appears in an unrecognized or private tag sequence, renderers typically show only the black flag (and the tag characters remain invisible), resulting in no special flag glyph.
On Apple platforms (iOS and macOS), this character does not render visibly on its own and is ignored visually unless it participates in a supported emoji tag sequence. Within a supported sequence, it remains invisible while influencing parsing; outside a supported sequence, it may be suppressed entirely or appear as a fallback box depending on the text stack. Developers should treat it as a control-like component that survives copy/paste and text processing but is not intended for user-visible text. Because it is a tag component, it is best used only in well-defined emoji tag sequences and not as a general-purpose character.
