= subway, underground train

Information

Visually, it stands apart from the side-view train emojis: head-on, fast, and a bit theatrical—like the quick movie cut right before a chase scene. It’s the subway coming straight at you, not from the side.

On Apple/iOS, it’s a silver-gray car with a blue-tinted windshield and bright yellow headlights blazing against a black tunnel mouth, with rails peeking in at the bottom to give that just-pulled-into-the-station feel.

Think of it as an express pass to city life—a front-facing metro bursting out of a dark, round tunnel like it’s running late for work (same). It radiates underground transit energy, rush-hour survival, and the universal art of pretending you didn’t notice the person from high school on the platform.

Definition

A common term used to describe a train system that provides transportation to people in a large metropolitan area, such as Paris or Washington D.C.
