Sideways White Down Pointing Index refers to a proposed or discussed pointing-hand symbol concept related to the older typographic โindexโ or โmaniculeโ tradition, rather than an emoji that became part of the official Unicode emoji set. It can be understood as a sideways variation of a white outlined hand with the index finger extended downward, intended to direct attention, mark an item, or say โlook hereโ in a visual way. Like other proposed hand indicators from early emoji-expansion discussions, it reflects interest in bringing printerโs marks, UI pointers, and expressive gesture symbols into colorful emoji form. It was never approved as a standard emoji on major platforms, and it should not be confused with officially encoded pointing hand emoji such as backhand index pointing down.

Emoji History The emoji code/ image log of changes.
This emoji was one of the "suggested emojis" the Unicode group unveiled in June 2014 [article], however, it has been, and still is, up to the companies who support emoji in their operating systems to provide not only images but also an algorithm to replace the emoji code into the emoji image.
