Tag Latin Small Letter M is a default-ignorable tag character used inside emoji tag sequences, not a standalone emoji. It lives in the Unicode Tags block in the Supplementary Special-purpose Plane (code point U+E006D) and is typically invisible by itself. In emoji systems, tag letters aβz are appended after a base emojiβmost notably the Black Flag (U+1F3F4)βto encode ASCII text such as subdivision codes, and the sequence is terminated with Cancel Tag (U+E007F). This mechanism underpins certain subdivision flags, for example the sequences for the flags of England (gbeng), Scotland (gbsct), and Wales (gbwls).
